P.C. Weight Loss
It is not PC to talk about weight these days. It is certainly not PC to talk about all the P.C. weight that people have put on. P.C. meaning Post Corona weight, the weight that we all put on while we were stressed and sitting around at home during quarantine. No judgement here on anyone. We all did it, but the trick is now to undo it and to let it all go back to the way before Corona came and changed the world as we knew it.
So for those few lucky ones, a day or two of watching what you eat might get you back to where you were B.C. (before Corona), but some of us need a little bit more of an effort to achieve our B.C. goal. Here are a few tips on how to accomplish this goal.
Food wise, the most important rule is to eat vegetables. There is nothing in the world that is better for weight loss than eating vegetables. Even in the vegetable world however there are some vegetables that are more conducive to weight loss than others.
Sea vegetables (seaweeds) are king when it comes to weight loss, and out of sea vegetables that help with weight loss wakame rules. Not only does wakame target stomach fat, wakame also prevents 80% of the fat consumed with your meal being absorbed by your body. If that is not a magic trick then I don’t know what is. What is wakame? Where do you find it and how do you prepare it?
Wakame is sold in most health food stores and can also be purchased online. It has been dehydrated and it is flaky and comes in a bag. The best way to use it is to soak it in cold water for 5 minutes before using it and then spill out the excess water. This makes it taste less like the sea and some people will find it more palatable to eat it post soaking. Here’s a super quick way to use wakame.
- 1 serving soba noodles, cooked and drained
- 1 tsp wakame soaked and drained
- 1 scallion, chopped
- Sesame seeds
- 1/2 an avocado sliced
- Soy sauce
- Roasted sesame oil (or olive oil if you don’t have roasted sesame oil)
Add the soy sauce and oil to the noodles, place the wakame on top topped with the avocado slices and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
Suggestion: Add any other grated vegetables you might prefer, they can be raw or lightly stir fried. Some vegetables suggestions include, carrot, radish, sprouts or sliced mushrooms.
Other vegetables that are extremely helpful in a weight loss regimen are celery (especially the leaves) and radishes. These two vegetables both help to cut the sugar cravings, celery has the additional benefit of being a diuretic so that the weight loss happens at a much faster pace than you would normally expect.

Another way that I help people to start off any weight loss plan is that I encourage them to use essential oils to help them balance their sugar, reduce their sugar cravings and relieve stress to avoid all the reasons why they might be over eating to begin with.
The best essential oils to combine with a weight loss program are patchouli, cinnamon and mint.
Patchouli is an antidepressant and reduces food cravings.
Mint is just marvelous for any type of diet. A drop of mint on the nose kills the appetite, dead. There is absolutely no desire to eat anything when you have a drop of mint oil on your nose (do not apply undiluted mint oil to your skin as it will irritate the skin). Maybe because it completely overwhelms your taste buds and anything you eat will tastes like mint. Plus mint will improve your digestion and sweeten the breath. This is the perfect oil for anyone on a diet and/or anyone wearing a mask.
Cinnamon is a wonderful oil for many reasons. It balances your blood sugar which is extremely important when starting off on a new eating plan as it will reduce your sugar cravings and enable you to go for longer periods without having a sugar drop and a need to eat. Additionally cinnamon stimulates the circulation, reduces stress and improves digestion all of which are beneficial to any weight loss program. Caution must be used however when using cinnamon oil as it can cause skin irritation so my suggestion is that unless you are a qualified aromatherapist, leave the cinnamon to spice up your meal, and use the other oils in a blend for the skin.
Here’s a recipe to make your own essential oil weight loss oil.
- 2 tbsp grape seed oil
- 15 drops patchouli
- 15 drops mint
Use up to 5 times daily around mouth and nose area, before eating a meal or a snack.
