Pomegranate Seed Oil: Small Seed, Big Beauty Story
Pomegranates have been prized for thousands of years. They’re beautiful, delicious, full of symbolism and ridiculously difficult to eat while wearing white.
But when it comes to skincare, it’s actually the tiny seeds inside the fruit that really interest us.
Pomegranate oil comes from the seeds of the pomegranate. Those tiny seeds produce an oil with a particularly interesting nutritional profile. Pomegranate seed oil is especially high in omega-5, primarily in the form of punicic acid, and also contains vitamin E and other naturally occurring antioxidant compounds.
Why does that matter to us?
Because plant oils rich in fatty acids are wonderful ingredients for nourishing and conditioning the skin. Pomegranate seed oil has attracted particular interest in cosmetic research for its antioxidant properties and its potential role in supporting the skin and its barrier. It is also of interest in skincare for uneven-looking skin tone and the appearance of dark spots and marks, which becomes particularly relevant as visible pigmentation becomes more common with age.
That’s another reason we chose pomegranate for Vita Glow for women looking to maintain a brighter, more even-looking complexion as their skin matures.
And aging skin is something we think about quite a lot around here.
There’s another reason we love the pomegranate. A pomegranate looks like one fruit from the outside, but open it and you discover hundreds of individual seeds. Each tiny seed carries its own little store of oil and nutrients.
Nature can be very efficient that way.
That’s why you'll find pomegranate in both our Vita Glow Energizing Morning Serum and Vita Glow Relaxing Evening Serum. We combine it with other carefully selected plant oils and essential oils to help keep skin feeling soft, conditioned and nourished, while supporting the naturally radiant, even-looking complexion we're looking for.
Because sometimes the best things for your skin really do come in very small packages.
